Upon graduation from The University of Denver in 1972, David enlisted in the United States Navy. After five and one-half years of active duty serving on both coasts, and in the Western Pacific, David decided to attend law school and remain in the selective reserve. He recently retired after 32 years of total service at the rank of Captain in the Special Operations Community.

Currently, David is "of Counsel" to the firm of Miller & Law, P.C. in Littleton, Colorado; prior to that he practiced independently for 25 years. Before opening this office in 1986, David worked for the Department of Justice from August 1980 through September 1986 in the Office of the United States Trustee. At the same time he taught the Bankruptcy/Debtor-Creditor and Legal Accounting courses at the University Of Denver College Of Law. David has also taught at the Arapahoe Community College in the Paralegal Program.

As an active member in SERTOMA (SERvice TO Mankind) since 1987, David has held numerous offices, including Governor of the Central Colorado District for the 2003-2004 term and President of the Sertoma Club of DTC and the Sertoma Promotion Club, being a charter member of both. In addition to this service organization, David remains active in the Navy SeaPower Presentation Program, giving talks to various organizations about the Navy and Navy diving, the Recruiting District Assistance Counsel (RDAC) and the Navy Blue & Gold team, where he assists the U.S. Naval Academy in its acquisition of the top candidates for the service academy. He has also been Chairman of Western Welcome Week (1992) and on the board from 1993-1996, 1999-2001, and 2004-2010. David has been the legal counsel to the board since 1992. David is now the President of the Littleton Fire Protection Board.

Other associations to which David belongs include: American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, Arapahoe County Bar Association, Southeast Metro Law Club, Big Brothers of America, Naval Reserve Association, Naval Institute, Navy League, Reserve Officers Association, Jewish War Veterans, Navy Divers Association, National Association of Fleet Tug Sailors and the Rocky Mountain Navy.

David is a native of Denver, Colorado, and he and his wife Diane Marie (Schumacher) of Denver, Iowa have two daughters, Jessica Marie Moy married to SStg. Clifton Moy, currently living in Parker, CO. and Jaime Lynn Brown, married to Robert Brown, currently living in Highlands Ranch, CO.
